How the meter works
The billing unit is the exact byte length of NFC-normalized UTF-8 text, independently measurable with new TextEncoder().encode(text.normalize("NFC")).length. This is an embeddings.app service price, separate from upstream token prices.
Each uncached provider request costs ceil(unique_input_bytes × model_rate) micro-USD, where the rate is the dollars-per-million-bytes value. One USD is 1,000,000 micro-USD. A 1,000-byte new BGE-M3 input costs 100 micro-USD ($0.0001).
Text, vectors, storage and managed retrieval are included within the published request and daily limits. Unknown provider outcomes remain reserved until reconciled; the service does not silently refund and repeat an uncertain paid call.
